As you’re probably aware, Scotland is well-known for producing some of the finest and tastiest food and drink in the world. This includes everything from strawberries, raspberries and beef to seafood, cheese, oatcakes, haggis and of course whisky – to name but a few!
The Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight is a nationwide event that supports and promotes Scotland’s produce, and the people who grow, make, cook and sell it. As provenance has been one of Inspire Catering’s guiding principles since day one, we were proud to be involved with the event once again this year.
This year the fortnight tied in with history, heritage and archaeology. Here is a selection of the mouth-watering dishes that were served up:
Scottish Seafood Salad:
Scottish stovies, oatcakes and beetroot:
Haggis, neeps & tatties:
Strawberry tarts
Desert pots with a twist! Featuring Irn Bru jelly, panacotta with Scottish raspberry mousse and butterscotch mousse with a chocolate topping
Inspire Catering love getting involved with anything that celebrates Scotland’s larder. Scottish food is celebrated all over the world and rightly so. Being part of the event allowed our chefs to create dishes and recipes that honour well-loved food such as Scottish salmon, stovies and strawberries but also to have some fun with other treasured exports such as Irn Bru. We are really looking forward to taking part in next year’s event.
