At Inspire Catering, our people are a key ingredient in our recipe for success. Our promise to clients is passionate people serving great food brilliantly and we encourage this at every opportunity. Developing and inspiring creativity and talent throughout our teams is always on the agenda and therefore we have launched our first culinary competition, open to all staff within Inspire Catering.
The idea behind the competition is to both showcase the talent we have at Inspire and to offer our employees the chance to shine – with a great reward in store for the 5 owners of the winning dishes! A culinary gastronomic safari in southern Spain awaits the winners!
The competition itself is split into various stages, with the first stage asking entrants to design and submit a menu befitting the inaugural Inspire Shine Ball, which takes place in March. The 5 course menu should comprise of a starter, fish course, main course, vegetarian main course and dessert. The specifications of the menu, and courses, are outlined on the entry form and detail elements such as temperature, positioning and balance of colour.
Inspire employees have until Friday 6th January to submit their entries, which will be judged by a panel before finalists are announced on Friday 13th January. Selected finalists will be asked to take part in a cook-off where they will prepare their menu dishes for the judging panel.
Finals take place on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th January covering all courses where finalists will be given 2 hours preparation time for each course before presenting their dishes to the judging panel.
Winners’ dishes will then be represented on the final dinner menu for the Shine Ball, and enjoyed by 150-200 guests at Sir Ian Wood House on Saturday 4th March.
Prize
The 5 winners can look forward to a culinary safari which will take place in October 2017. Winners will be flown to Malaga to discover the gastronomic delights of southern Spain. Guests will stay in the beautiful Los Olivillos Mountain Retreat, whilst visiting tasty tapas bars, embarking on private wine tours and discovering culinary wonders in nearby markets and villages.
